DON LEÓNIDAS ZEGARRA UCEDA: THE PERUVIAN FILMMAKER / EL CINEASTA PERUANO.

¡ES UNA PELÍCULA MUY EMOCIONANTE!
WHAT AN EXCITING MOVIE!

Leonidas Zegarra is the greatest anti-communist Peruvian filmmaker. Since the inception of his career his film production was attacked from a communist perspective: the criticism pointed out that his very first feature film did not support convincingly the political ideals of the Revolutionary Government of the Armed Forces of Peru and, after few weeks of exhibition, it was banned.

At the time, the communist militants disguised their ideology under names like "humanist socialism" or "social democracy of full participation" and promoted the idea that only those who defended these ideas deserved to be considered "intellectuals."

Due to the importance of the cinema as a tool of propaganda for communist purposes, the militants organized themselves around magazines of minor distribution who became "important" because the communist stated so. This was an excellent way of imposing pressure of the film production that did not support the party line delineated by the "socialist" and "ex-guerrilleros."

Savagely discredited by a large organization of communist "film critics" who penetrated the universities, newspapers and government organizations, Mr. Zegarra courageously protected his artistic vision for decades and continues devoted to the passion that has motivated him since his childhood: filmmaking.

The reality of the Peruvian people can be fully appreciated in his movies at the thematic, technological, and financial levels: most of these are movies of about survival, created in conditions of survival. Naturally, the communists do not want to see the Peruvian reality from the perspective of Mr. Zegarra because they think that their own understanding of the social life is the right one. All independent thinkers who want to grow financially through the commercialization of this own ideas and products must be destroyed.

Anyway, Leonidas Zegarra keeps fighting the good fight... no matter what. And he does it successfully!
Those artists and scholars who recognize his artistic integrity and playful films and books admire him from the heart.....
